SIXT ride Booking Conditions

The following booking conditions apply to all bookings for transportation services to be provided by transportation service providers registered directly with the SIXT ride Platform.

Special conditions apply to bookings to be provided by transportation service provider registered with third-party applications such as taxi dispatch center, where the price is determined using a taximeter, and transportation network companies (TNCs). A TNC is a third-party technology platform that connects passengers with independent drivers who use their own vehicles. When booking transportation services through a third party application, Sixt ride will transparently display the third party application's logo in the product offer and will request you to accept the third party's terms and conditions (if any) prior to submitting the booking request. TNC examples: Cabify, Lyft, LeCab, Addison Lee.

GENERAL INFORMATION (Rules in the vehicle, transport of minors and animals, luggage)

VEHICLE & BOOKING CLASSES

The vehicle pictures shown on the platform serve exclusively to illustrate the different vehicle classes that belong to the individual car categories. Please take into consideration that any of these vehicles could be assigned to your reservation when choosing the desired category. The availability of some vehicle’s classes may also vary depending on the booking location.

RULES IN THE VEHICLE

The following rules apply to every trip:

  • No smoking in the vehicle
  • Seat belts must be worn
  • Vehicle must be treated with care

In the event of non-compliance with these rules and inappropriate behaviour such as vandalism and activities that make the driver feel unsafe or uncomfortable, the total amount of the agreed fees remains payable, less any expenses that may have been saved. Additionally, the service provider may claim compensation from the user or passenger for the necessary repair of damage to the vehicle or cleaning dirt in the vehicle caused by the passenger that exceeds the usual level.

TRANSPORT OF MINORS

BABY-/CHILDSEATS

This information must be entered in the NOTES TO DRIVER field under PASSENGER DETAILS when booking. If you would like a child seat, the age, height, and weight of the child are required. If this information is not included in the booking, the trip may not be carried out due to safety regulations depending on the legislation of the country in which the trip takes place. The trip will be fully charged.

TRANSPORT OF UNACCOMPANIED MINORS

Travel arrangements for unaccompanied minors are subject to approval by the transportation service provider performing the services. Sixt ride cannot guarantee that all our service providers allow unaccompanied minors. If you wish book a ride for an unaccompanied minor, please add a comment under NOTES TO DRIVER on the OPTIONS section of the PASSENGER DETAILS page. Sixt ride will provide the customer with the details of the service provider assigned to the booking, in order for the customer to make such travel arrangements directly with the service provider. Alternatively, please contact Sixt ride's hotline.

Requests that go beyond Sixt ride’s included standard services require an availability check which is only performed if you contact the service provider directly or the Sixt ride’s hotline at the time of the booking request. Our standard cancellation policy applies in the event that no availability check was performed and, consequently, our service provider was unable to carry out the ride.

TRANSPORT OF ANIMALS

If you’re travelling with an animal, please add a comment under NOTES TO DRIVER on the OPTIONS section of the PASSENGER DETAILS page. Sixt ride cannot guarantee that all our service providers allow animals. Sixt ride will provide the customer with the details of the service provider assigned to the booking in order for the customer to make such travel arrangements directly with the service provider. Alternatively, please contact Sixt ride's hotline.

LUGGAGE

The luggage allowance per booking class is mentioned in the RIDE TYPES page. If you’re traveling with luggage in excess of the allowance, please add a comment under NOTES TO DRIVER on the OPTIONS section of the PASSENGER DETAILS page. Sixt ride does not guarantee that our service providers will accept more luggage than the advertised luggage allowance. Sixt ride will provide the customer with the details of the service provider assigned to the booking in order for the customer to make such travel arrangements directly with the service provider. Travel arrangements for unaccompanied luggage are subject to approval by the transportation service provider performing the services. Sixt ride cannot guarantee that all our service providers allow unaccompanied luggage. If you wish book a ride for an unaccompanied luggage, please add a comment under NOTES TO DRIVER on the OPTIONS section of the PASSENGER DETAILS page. Sixt ride will provide the customer with the details of the service provider assigned to the booking, in order for the customer to make such travel arrangements directly with the service provider. CANCELLATION

DESTINATION BOOKING

Free: up to 60 minutes before the agreed pick-up time
100% of the fare: less than 60 minutes before the agreed pick-up time

For airport pick-ups, if the flight number was provided during the booking, cancellations are free of charge up to 60 minutes before the actual landing time of the flight or, if applicable, up to 60 minutes before the selected buffer time has ended. If no flight number was provided, cancellations are free of charge up to 60 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.

BOOK BY THE HOUR

Free: up to 24 hours before the agreed pick-up time
100% of the fare: less than 24 hours before the agreed pick-up time

For airport pick-ups, if the flight number was provided during the booking, cancellations are free of charge up to 24 hours before the actual landing time of the flight or, if applicable, up to 24 hours before the selected buffer time has ended. If no flight number was provided, cancellations are free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled pick-up time.

Free: up to 4 hours before the agreed pick-up time for destination bookings and bookings by the hour
100% of the fare: less than to 4 hours the agreed pick-up time for destination bookings and bookings by the hour
CHINA (Chengdu, Tianjin)
Free: up to 6 hours before the agreed pick-up time for destination bookings and bookings by the hour
100% of the fare: less than to 6 hours before the agreed pick-up time for destination bookings and bookings by the hour
CHINA (Macau)
Free: up to 12 hours before the agreed pick-up time for destination bookings and bookings by the hour
100% of the fare: less than to 12 hours before the agreed pick-up time for destination bookings and bookings by the hour

METERED SERVICE (TAXI)

Cancellation before ride is dispatched
If a booking request is cancelled by the User before the request is dispatched, no cancellation fee will be charged.
Cancellation after the ride has been dispatched
If the booking request is cancelled by the User after the request is dispatched, a cancellation fee might be charged according to local laws and regulations or according to the Service Provider’s Terms and Conditions.

TRANSPORTATION NETWORK SERVICE

Cancellation before ride is dispatched
If a booking request is cancelled by the User before the request is dispatched, no cancellation fee will be charged.
Cancellation after the ride has been dispatched
If the booking request is cancelled by the User after the request is dispatched, a cancellation fee might be charged according to the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions.

WAITING TIME ON PICK-UP

FREE INCLUDED WAITING TIME

For all pickup locations except the airport: 
15 minutes from the agreed pick-up time, except stated otherwise and accepted by the service provider.

For airport pickups:
60 minutes, beginning from actual landing if a flight number was specified during the booking.
If no flight number was specified during the booking, the waiting time of 60 minutes begins with the agreed pick-up time that was scheduled at the time of booking.

EGYPT
For all pick-up locations except the airport: 
10 minutes from the agreed pick-up time.
FRANCE Moto
For all pick-up locations except the airport: 10 minutes from the agreed pick-up time.
For airport pickups: 20 minutes, starting from actual landing.

EXTENSION OF WAITING TIME FOR ALL PICK-UP LOCATIONS:

DESTINATION BOOKING

The passenger can ask the driver for additional waiting time. Extending the waiting time cannot be guaranteed. The driver will decide whether this is possible or not, depending, for example, on his future journeys on his schedule. The following costs are incurred: 0.55 EUR/USD/CHF/GBP per minute plus tax. These charges are incurred in the currency in which they were booked.

BOOK BY THE HOUR

The book by the hour booking starts with the arrival of the customer or after the waiting time has elapsed; the driver will stay booked for the passenger for duration of the reservation.

SWITZERLAND, USA, SINGAPORE
Additional waiting time is charged at the rate of 1,67 CHF/USD per minute plus tax.
FRANCE Moto
The waiting time can be extended in 5 minutes blocks. Each newly started 5 minute block is charged 5.00 EUR plus tax. These charges are incurred in the currency in which they were booked.

If the driver cannot extend the waiting time and the ride can not start within the free included waiting time period after the agreed pick-up time, this will be regarded as a no-show of the customer. In this case, the ride will be invoiced at 100%. Please see the section nonclusion of the ride for more information.

WAITING TIME FOR METERED SERVICE (TAXI)

Waiting time or extra time shall be charged at the rate determined by the local statutory taxi fare laws and regulations or according to the Service Provider’s Terms and Conditions.

WAITING TIME FOR TRANSPORTATION NETWORK SERVICE

Waiting time or extra time shall be charged at the rate determined by the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions.

MEETING POINT WITH THE DRIVER FOR AIRPORT PICK-UP

(only if flight number is specified)

Outside the baggage claim area at the gate assigned to the specified flight number, unless Sixt communicates otherwise. The driver will be holding a pickup sign with the name of the passenger. If the driver cannot be found, please contact the driver or Sixt at +49 30 340 440 440.

CHANGES TO THE BOOKING (STOP-OVERS, EXTENDING OF HOURS)

STOP-OVERS

DESTINATION BOOKING

Stop-offs are possible if the request is indicated in the NOTES TO DRIVER field under PASSENGER DETAILS and confirmed in writing by the travel service provider. A spontaneous stop-off on site will be possible only with the driver's agreement. For stop-offs, additional kilometre charges and additional waiting times may apply, see KILOMETRES/MILEAGE DURING THE RIDE and WAITING TIME ON PICK-UP sections.

BOOK BY THE HOUR

The driver can be informed of any desired stop-offs directly on site. If you have a specific wished route when booking, please share it under NOTES TO DRIVER in PASSENGER DETAILS. As long as the stop-offs are within the booked time window, no additional fees will be charged. However, additional kilometre fees may apply, see KILOMETRES/MILEAGE DURING THE RIDE section.

EXTENDING THE BOOKING PERIOD FOR BOOKINGS BY THE HOUR

In order to extend the booking, the customer must inform Sixt and receive a confirmation before starting the journey. If you would like to spontaneously extend it on site, the driver will decide whether this is possible depending on connecting trips.  It is only possible to extend it in 1 hour blocks for a fee.

KILOMETRES / MILEAGE DURING THE RIDE

DESTINATION BOOKING

All the kilometres / mileage necessary to make the booked destination ride.

BOOK BY THE HOUR 

Each booking includes 30 kilometres / 20 mileage per hour booked free of charge.

EXTENDING OF KILOMETRES/MILEAGE FOR DESTINATION BOOKINGS AND BOOKINGS BY THE HOUR:

If the included kilometres / mileages per destination booking or book by the hour are exceeded, additional kilometres / mileage will be charged according to the following prices:

If additional tolls are incurred in connection with the additional kilometres / mileage, the passenger must pay these themselves.

EXTENDING OF KILOMETRES/ MILEAGE FOR METERED SERVICE (TAXI)

Extra kilometres / mileage shall be charged at the rate determined by the local statutory taxi fare laws and regulations or according to the Service Provider’s Terms and Conditions.

EXTENDING OF KILOMETRES/ MILEAGE FOR TRANSPORTATION NETWORK SERVICE BOOKINGS

Extra kilometres / mileage shall be charged at the rate determined by the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions.

EXTRA COSTS DURING THE RIDE

Any extra costs that may incur during the ride, will be charged after the ride to the method of payment the original booking was made with. The booking customer is responsible for the resulting extra costs.

NONCONCLUSION OF THE RIDE

Passenger does not turn up

If the passenger does not arrive at the agreed pick-up location without cancelling the booking within the free waiting period after the agreed pick-up time and if they cannot be reached via the telephone number stated in the booking and did not try to contact Sixt ride or the Service Provider to request extra waiting time, this will be regarded as no-show of the customer. In this case, the journey will be invoiced at 100%.

Driver does not turn up

If the driver does not arrive, the passenger must contact the driver directly. The passenger always receives the telephone number by EMAIL and SMS at least 30 minutes before the agreed pick-up time and via the Sixt app. If the driver is not available, please contact the Sixt Service Hotline at +49 340 440 440 and we will find an alternative solution for the transfer.

Passenger prevents transport

If the passenger decides to refrain from a journey because the driver refuses special services (e.g. transport of children, animals, bulky luggage), which the transport service provider previously did not agree to, the total amount of the fees agreed for the journey remains payable, less any expenses saved.

Refusal of the ride by the driver

The driver may refuse to carry out the journey if the passenger does not comply with the rules in the vehicle or if he or she suspects that the person booking or the passenger is part of an illegal organisation or uses the services in an illegal manner or for illegal purposes.

GENERAL INFORMATION - METERED SERVICE (TAXI)

General Terms & Conditions 

If the user had to accept the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions during the booking process, in order to book a transportation service, where the Booking Conditions set hereunder are incongruous with the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions, the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions supersede. The Terms & Conditions, as well as the Privacy Policy, applicable to the use of the Sixt Ride-Platform by the User apply simultaneously.

Reservation Services 

In most cases, the User will not incur in any reservation fees by Sixt Ride, the Service Provider or any third-party software provider. However, shall the User be subject to a reservation fee by Sixt Ride, the Service Provider or a third-party software provider, the estimated price displayed during the booking process will be inclusive of such reservation fee.

Estimated Fare 

Please note that Sixt Ride is a service that connects Users with taxi drivers and/or operators or Transportation Network Companies and/or Transportation Network Drivers and does not set its own fares.

Taxi Operators and/or Taxi Drivers might be bound by the applicable laws and regulations of the jurisdiction where they provide taxi services. In certain jurisdiction, Taxi Operators and/or Taxi Drivers might be able to set their own fares according their own Terms & Conditions. Therefore, the taxi fare rates, including any extra charges or surcharges, might be determined by local taxi laws and regulations in their jurisdictions where they operate or the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions. The taxi fare rate displayed during the booking process is an estimation based on estimated distance and time. The actual fare is based on individual factors, such as the route taken, traffic, waiting times at traffic lights, and any statutory extra charges applied to the Service Agreement according to local laws and regulations or to the Service Provider’s Terms & Conditions. The local statutory fares and surcharges may be found online in official publications by public authorities and/or inside taxi vehicle. The User may also inquire directly the Service Provider about the fare applicable to the Service Agreement.
